The Northfield Senior Center along with the Village on the Cannon and the Cannon Valley Elder Collegium will sponsor the 2nd Annual Northfield Great River Shakespeare Festival Program.  The focus will be two trips to Winona to attend performances of Shakespeare’s  “The Merchant of Venice” and  “The Taming of the Shrew” presented by the Great River Shakespeare Festival.  You may enroll for either or both show trips.  Before the trips there will be a number of opportunities to learn more about the performances and about each of the plays.  Final details are still being developed and will be presented over the next several months.  The schedule of major activities is; 

 

May 9  5 – 7 pm  Doug Scholz-Carlson, GRSF Associate Director,

                 Discussion of    the Plays at GRSF and Merrymaking at Village on the Cannon

 

May 22            7 – 9 p. m. “The Taming of the Shrew” Discussion with Lowell Johnson

 

            $5. fee for both  discussions. Refundable if you participate in the Tour Trip

 

May 29            7 – 9  p. m. “The Merchant of Venice” Discussion with Jim McDonnel

 

July 12             “The Merchant of Venice  3:00 p. m.  Winona     Bus Departs  11 a. m.

                        Followed by Dinner and Discussion with Cast Members

 

July 13             “The Taming of the Shrew  4:30 p. m.  Winona            Bus Departs  12 Noon

                        Followed by Dinner and Discussion with Cast Members

 

The price for each of the trips on July 12 and on July 13 will again be $75.  This price includes the play ticket, dinner after the play with members of the cast, and the bus trip with the dynamic Kari Sobeck as your tour guide.  Last years participants were very enthusiastic in their comments on the entire program.  And this year will be even better.  You may register for this trip at the Northfield Senior Center
